Kate says: "Since moving to Manchester I've become interested in the city's involvement in Labour history and the women's movement. I based my illustration on a brooch designed by Sylvia Pankhurst, daughter of Emmeline Pankhurst, which was awarded to women who had been imprisoned due to their involvement in the suffrage movement. One of the brooches can be seen as part of an exhibition at the People's History Museum."
